1.5 ADMISSION[]

1.5.1 Selection Procedure[]

Unrestricted Admission Programs[]

For bachelor degree programmes with unrestricted admission, applicants will receive the confirmation of admission at the time of online application, days later for masters’ programs. No selection procedure is carried out for unrestricted admission programmes.

Restricted Admission Programs[]

If more applications have been received for a course of study with restricted admission than there are places available, a selection procedure will commence. It is not, as one might think, the Numerus Clausus (NC, minimum average grade) that determines who gets admitted, but the number of available study places.
After deducting the quota for non-EU foreigners and the quota for second-degree students, study places are allocated as follows:

  • about 80% according to the average grade of the university entrance qualification and
  • approx. 20% after waiting time.

The waiting period is calculated on the basis of the semesters since obtaining the university entrance qualification. There is no offsetting of any kind of waiting time against the average grade!
Applicants with a good average grade and a long waiting period will of course only receive one place, even if they would get places on both lists due to their qualifications. Vocational training and periods of service are already taken into account in the waiting time calculation or ranking. They do not constitute grounds for applications for hardship or compensation for disadvantages.
