1.4.3 Application Procedure

There are three main channels through which one can apply for studies at TH Lübeck:

1. Direct online application via the TH Lübeck website
2. Application via Uni-Assist
3. Application via Hochschulstart.de

Direct Online Application via the TH Lübeck Website

The online application is the standard platform for applying for a study place at the Technische Hochschule Lübeck.

• Direct application is applicable to applicants with:
• Assessment Certificate at a preparatory college (Studienkolleg)
• LINKplus Certificate
• European High School Certificate
• Certificate of Equivalence from the Ministry of Education.
• Statement of Comparability:
• Evaluation Report or Preliminary Review Documentation (Vorprüfungsdokumentation VPD):
• TestAs Certificate

Steps

1. TH Lübeck has two different online application portals. Please refer to the tab "Bachelor"[[1]] or "Master" [[2]]to find out whether you have to apply online via the THL application portal or whether you should submit your application via Hochschulstart [3].
2. Enter your data in the application portal by following the on-screen instructions.
3. Print out the application form, sign it send it with all necessary documents by post to the Admissions Office of the TH Lübeck within the application period. An unsigned application is considered null and void.
4. For Bachelor programmes with no admission restrictions, you will receive the admission confirmation together with the generated application form at the end of the online application process.
5. In principle, only one application for admission should be submitted, except for application through Hochschulstart where two courses of study may be selected. Therefore, please inform yourself BEFORE applying about the range of courses offered.

Application via Uni-Assist

All applicants who acquired their university entrance qualification outside the Federal Republic of Germany apply via uni-assist, the Service Centre for International Student Applications. Uni-assist evaluates the study qualifications for the chosen degree programme on behalf of the TH Lübeck.

Application in Six Steps

1. For a detailed application procedure, please read the following Uni-Assist checklist.
2. Application processing usually takes about 4 to 6 weeks after receipt of application and payment.
3. Uni-assist will inform you of the result of the examination in the form of a letter and an e-mail.
4. If you meet the admission requirements, uni-assist will send your application documents to TH Lübeck.
5. If you apply for a course of study with restricted admission, you will be included in the selection process, which will take place approx. 4 weeks after the application deadline after which you will then receive written notification.
6. If you apply for an admission-free degree programme, we will send you the admission documents by post and, if necessary, by e-mail approx. 2 to 3 weeks after uni-assist has sent them to us.

Very Important steps for Architecture, Civil Engineering, Business Administration and Industrial Engineering and Management

• The application via hochschulstart.de is not possible for German and foreign applicants who have acquired a university entrance qualification outside of Germany. These applications must be made through uni-assist at a fee.
• Before you apply via the uni-assist portal, you must first register on the website of the Foundation for University Admissions hochschulstart.de.
• You will receive a two-part identification number consisting of BID (applicant ID) and BAN (applicant authentication number).
• The BID and BAN must then be entered in the uni-assist portal when applying.
• Please do not apply additionally via hochschulstart.de but only via uni-assist!

Application via Hochschulstart.de (Dialogorientierten Serviceverfahren, DoSV)

The DoSV serves to coordinate the allocation of undergraduate degree programs with restricted admissions at the federal level. It is intended to ensure that these study places are distributed to the applicants more quickly, effectively and in a more user-friendly way. On the platform www.hochschulstart.de, applicants can check the status of their applications at any time. Applications for the following TH Lübeck programs must be submitted through DoSV:

• Architecture
• Civil Engineering
• Business Administration (intake only possible in winter semester).
• Industrial Engineering and Management (intake only possible in winter semester).

Who can apply via hochschulstart.de?

• The application is only possible for the 1st semester of the above mentioned courses of study. This also applies to second degree courses.
• German applicants who have a German university entrance qualification,
• Foreign applicants who have a German university entrance qualification
• Graduates of a German Studienkolleg.

Steps

1. Register with hochschulstart.de.
2. After successful registration you will receive an applicant ID and a BAN (applicant authentication number).
3. Follow the on-screen DoSV online application steps. TH Lübeck accepts two applications per applicant.
4. If your application is unsuccessful, you can apply for another course of study directly at the Technische Hochschule Lübeck at a later date. However, this application can only be made for a degree program without admission restrictions.
