The student council (German: Fachschaften) usually consists of all students of a department. Related departments are often combined to form interdepartmental student councils. At the THL, for example, there is a joint student council for engineering and economics of the departments of mechanical engineering and economics and electrical engineering and computer science. The tasks of a student council include the representation of all students belonging to the student council and their interests in committees and in faculty and university matters.
